Guilin Bus Station
Guilin Bus Station is located on Zhong Shan Road about 15 minutes walk into town from the Railway Station. The main ticket office is on the left hand side; another ticket office inside sells only a limited range of tickets but since that includes Yangshuo this can be useful.
Toilets are on the right hand side after you go through the security check.
Warning: The bus station area is notorious for petty crimes. Ensure your valuables are safe and on't leave your bags unattended.
Long Distance Buses
Guilin is well connected to cities like Guangzhou, Shenzhen and even Chengdu. There is a new expressway connecting Guilin with Wuzhou (due to open soon) and that will shorten the times heading south considerably, as well as making the journey more comfortable.
Times and prices change. As an indication:
- Guangzhou/Shenzhen, about 8-10 hours (maybe 2-3 less when the new expressway opens) for 200-250 Rmb
- Chengdu, about 24 hours
Local Buses
The most useful local buses will be those going to Longsheng and to Yangshuo.
For other local buses you aither need to speak pretty good Putonghua or have someone write down your destination and travel preferences in characters.
